Reinvent your city!

Today more than one billion cars are circulating on our roads.
This number is expected to double within the next 20 years.
On top of that, we are facing an unprecedent urbanization trend: by 2030, 5 billion people will live in cities.
To accomodate those people, we have to build the equivalent of a city of the size of Rome or Berlin every month, for 20 years straight!

Congestion

How can we provide affordable, convenient and sustainable mobility, without any infrastructural investments, to present and future city dwellers?

Often the solution of the problem is self-evident: if we spend a few minutes watching cars stuck in traffic, we notice that most of the cars have only one passenger.
In fact, statistics say that the average passengers per vehicle ratio in developed countries is around 1.2.
Considering 2.2 trips per day (average trip lenght in the EU: 13 Km) and 1.2 passengers per car, we have a person/trip/day ratio of 2.64.
What happens if we deploy an 8 seater van that works 10 hours per day, performing 19 trips and having on average 4 passengers on-board?

The results are extraordinary: the person/trip/day ratio skyrockets to 76,9!

Translating this ratio into plain numbers, 100 MVMANTs deployed in a city can take off the road almost 3000 private cars.
This is the equivalent of 7.5 km of uninterrupted queue on 2 lanes or, if we park those cars properly in multi-storey car parks, we need precious urban surface equivalent to 10 soccer fields!

Let’s talk about air pollution.

If we assume that all vehicles in our city comply to the Euro 4 standards for gasoline, deploying 100 MVMANTs would save yearly over 4400 tons of CO2, 16 tons of CO, 8 tons of Nox, 0.2 tons of PM.
Evidence and recent scandals have shown that declared consumptions and emission levels are very far from reality, therefore those numbers can reasonably be considered much higher, especially where vehicles are older.
